Giving your horse a proper cool-down

June 17, 2016   //   Horse care, Horse Riding, Life on the ranch, Training Tips

It’s so important to give your horse a good cool down after a workout.  Make sure that after you work your horse out that you bring down the intensity for 10-15 minutes.  A great way to do that is to gradually bring the intensity back down to a walk.  A good cool-down won’t make them sweat more.  After untacking your horse, allow them to stand there and continue to cool-down before putting them in the barn or back out to the pasture.  Make sure they have access to fresh water when you are done working out.
